a bit of company

a few friends met on Monday to see the season finale of the swedish dating (ehh) show "lite sällskap" (a bit of company). it just had to be celebrated!

we poured the champagne

ate som canapés

then we watched the show

sometimes we had to take out the infamous "skämskudden"

most of all, we had fun!

ropsten

At 8 AM our alarms went off. Not long after 9 we dragged ourselves to the train and headed to my brother's place, taking care of a kid for a few hours, cutting hair, playing games and hanging out. I forgot to take any pictures there, but managed to snap a few while waiting for the tube back.

peter feeling pointed out.

i couldn't quite decide if i loved this painting on a wall (which i actually hadn't seen before, even though i've been here tons of times before), or just thought it was ugly. oh well, it was definitely interesting.

now: back to folding clothes, going through things and trying to sort through the apartment. wish me luck!

fire

I'm trying to get rid of a lot of old papers and enjoy the heat that a nice fire gives at the same time. Unfortunately paper creates more smoke than fire, so now it stinks here.

after work

friday night and we went for dinner and drinks at Judit & Bertil in Sthlm. Lovely food, nice atmosphere and awesome friends.

footie and beer

on wednesday night after roger caught the train I went over to o'learys to hang out with my man and a couple of friends for a few minutes. I managed to see only a few minutes of the barcelona - copenhagen game (quite boring, actually) and nicked a few sips of beer from peter.

wednesday night bowling

For some reason I've been out bowling quite a lot the last few weeks. Quite a lot = two times. Yesterday my friend Roger was in town and we managed to squeeze in dinner and a bowl before he had to go home.

roger

and off it goes!

we had to do dances when you got a strike or a spare (in Swedish: spärr). this is part of my spare dance, trying to look like a train door. don't ask why, i have no idea.

I had to dance quite often though; I managed to do SIX strikes! WHOOPIE! I managed less spares though.. oh well, there'll be more opportunities!

roger tried another technique. it worked really well for him. promise.

tv tip!

my brother called me twice today, and he rarely calls. He told me that the Swedish show "Felix stör en ingenjör" that was screened yesterday was about a medical engineer in ghana. Whoa!

So tonight, when we had dinner already, we put it on. After about 10 seconds Peter went "whooooooooo" and clung to my arm.

Awesome show, actually. Like the whole series. Not that much engineering, but a lot of interesting things, such as a coffin made out as a "glassbåt".

See it!

maria and daniel have a fab lamp in their living room!

then we looked at some pictures from their wedding last year. since they moved to australia just two days after it, neither me or evelina had seen them before.

after four cups of tea it was time for me to take the bus back home.

boy with a picture

on the last day in Ethiopia this summer I met 8 kids part of MSC's orphan and vulnerable children programme. One of them was this boy. His mother was dead and he lived with his grandmother, sister and another child.

They lived in the most amazing house. Outside it looked like everyone elses - made of mud, straw and sticks. But on the inside it was vibrant with colors. The walls sky blue, bright red curtains and the walls plastered with pictures. There wasn't much furniture, but it felt like a home. Like something that they had made THEIRS. Like they had something, in the mid of all tragic things happening to them, that gave them joy.

The picture he's holding is his most precious possession. It's a picture of two women and a child. The women on the left is his mother. Or rather, was his mother.

By the way, the organisation we helped out which has this program (among others) is called Medhen Social Center. I'm involved in a partner organisation in Sweden called Blichta.
