and now it's time for bed too -  tomorrow it's Monday again and I have only five weeks left at work. It feels weird and wonderful, all at the same time.

boy with a picture

on the last day in Ethiopia this summer I met 8 kids part of MSC's orphan and vulnerable children programme. One of them was this boy. His mother was dead and he lived with his grandmother, sister and another child.

They lived in the most amazing house. Outside it looked like everyone elses - made of mud, straw and sticks. But on the inside it was vibrant with colors. The walls sky blue, bright red curtains and the walls plastered with pictures. There wasn't much furniture, but it felt like a home. Like something that they had made THEIRS. Like they had something, in the mid of all tragic things happening to them, that gave them joy.

The picture he's holding is his most precious possession. It's a picture of two women and a child. The women on the left is his mother. Or rather, was his mother.

By the way, the organisation we helped out which has this program (among others) is called Medhen Social Center. I'm involved in a partner organisation in Sweden called Blichta.

friends & dinner

I spent yesterday evening with a few old friends from uni, enjoying good food, a cold beer and fabulous company.

me, laughing.

the only pictures i did manage to take of maria was all blurry. i'll do better next time.

one todo one, about a million to go

Since yesterday evening, we've settled on who will rent the apartment when we're gone. It's friends of mine, so it feels really, really good. Only thing is: I'll miss the apartment. i will REALLY miss it.

For the sake of the new tenants I took a few quick snapshots yesterday. A bit blurry, but still.

If I could just move it from Stockholm to Accra, I would. oh well, we're soon getting info about potential homes in accra. i'm both excited and nervous about it.

running pete!

even though he didn't win (and my cousin didn't run this year, so he didn't win either. he normally does, though), he FELT like a winner. 10 km in 51:01, more than ten minutes less than his 10 km run in august. way to go, hubby!

sunday

this weekend has been less than full of things to do. or rather, we were supposed to have started going through our basement storage, but instead we have slept in, hung out on the couch, taken baths (me), cuddled with kitties, done the dishes, watched crappy movies and simply focused on doing nothing.

today we did a bit more. peter ran a 10 km race today, Hässelbyloppet. You'll get more info on that later. more importantly, I med up with Ylwa and Stefan to cheer on him. And they brought friends, namely these two über cute miniature schnauzers.

boogie

soya didn't really want to stand still, i.e. i had a really hard time getting focus on her.

they were quite a cuddly bunch.

boogie on the other hand - she can pose like no other dog.

there are more pictures from peter running, but i'll tend to them later. for now you'll have to make due with some dogs, aiight?

christmas plans

We are spending this christmas in our new home country and have planned to find a suiting beach resort. And today I think I've found it.

so, between christmas and new years eve, it looks like we'll be hanging out at Big Milly's, just 30 km from accra. I'm sure it'll be a blast.

paus picture

went to a ghana lecture today. the lady looked like 35 in the picture, but in reality was a 50+ woman, in Swedish often called a "kulturtant". all the pictures, and i mean ALL, were blurred. seriously. although it was quite nice to get more of a picture of the country we're going to live in.

no pictures taken by me today. instead you'll get an old one of ella:
